I am a Christian Minister. I am also African American.  I normally use the internet as a ministering tool.  I just read (in this newsgroup) an article contrasting Black and White preachers.  (The article indicated that Mr. Obama's pastor was being unfairly treated because he [the pastor] is Black.)  While the episode may be racist it really isn't about preachers.  It is all about racism. Here's why:

In the United States of America, it is almost impossible for a Black man to become president (unless he happens to be an absolute "Tom").  That is because Black men in the United States of America are not allowed to be their own man.  Those of us who exert our manhood and independence are held back, have our assets degraded and are set at nought.  I am very surprised that Black People in America are not grasping this reality!  It will be so sad to see my people (Black People) develop so much hope and then suffer so great a fall (if God allows racism to bring down Obama).

There are young White People in the United States of America who truly are not racists.  There are older White People in the United States of America who are struggling and trying to move away from racism (and for some it is a very very hard struggle).  Then, there are the real racists.  The real racists have absolutely no intention of allowing a Black man to become President of the United States of America.  The real racists are of two types:  1. The Overts, and 2. The Coverts.

1. The Overts.  The Overts will tell you straight out that they will not vote for Obama (or any other "Negro" for that matter) for President of the United States of America.

2. The Coverts.  The Coverts have no intention of voting for Obama (or any other "African American") for President of the United States of America but they will not say it.  Rather, they hide their true stripes and pretend to be beyond racism.

The Media understands that the Overts are "safely" against a Black US President.  No problem.  But the Coverts pose both a problem and an opportunity for the media.  By pretending to be neutral the Coverts give what appears to be tacit approval to the concept of a Black Man being President of the United States of America.  That apparent "tacit approval of possibility" helps make it seem that more Whites would both vote for and accept a Black Man as President of the United States of America.  That helps a Black Male candidate.  Now, here is what all the fuss is about:  The media realizes that the Coverts are true racists nonetheless and only need a "decent excuse" to come out against a Black Male presidential candidate. Mind you, I did not say "decent reason", I said "decent excuse".  So, for the remainder of the time Mr. Obama is a candidate for the office of President of the United State of America, expect the media and other factions to present "excuses" for the Coverts.  Again, they are not looking for reasons (they already have the reason [he is a Black Male]) they just need the covering excuse.

Black people need to wake up and smell the American coffee.  (I am a 61 years old Black Man [born in the United States of America]); I know what I am talking about.

So, no, it is not about ministers (and I am a minister), it is all about the Coverts (they need a decent (or "good-sounding") excuse.  Wake up, my people, wake up, please!!!!
